There comes a time in every manager’s life when we have to face a camera or a microphone and, when we step down from the podium or walk away from the interview, some of us wish we had been better equipped to handle the situation.

Now you can be.

Media training sessions – that will help you conduct professional and insightful interviews that we will proud of instead of those that make you cringe and cry out ‘That’s NOT me – I’m going to sue!’

During this session we will learn

  • To conduct an interview that works more for us than for the journalist
  • How to deflect tough questions and
  • How to turn hostile questioning into a positive outcome
  • How to handle though meeting situations.

The trainer, Erich Viedge, draws on a long career in journalism promises to guide us towards the ultimate goal of positive media exposure. The sessions include instruction, verbal feedback, live camera filming and critique – very interactive and much fun.

For Managing the Media: if you’re the MD or a board member and want a one-on-one inside track on how to manage the media – and not have the media manage you!

For Crisis Inoculation and Management: if you need a bullet-proof plan to help you pre-empt and deal with any of the 11 kinds of primary or secondary crisis. If anything can go wrong, it will be covered by this training; includes a crisis management manual template.

For Crisis Communication: How to avoid unnecessary publicity when the brown stuff hits the spinning thing. We discuss techniques that work and techniques that don’t – and we practice the techniques with a simulation of your worst nightmare.

For Handling Interviews on TV or Radio: if you need to be able to respond quickly, articulately and sensibly when the pressure – and the cameras and microphones – are on! TV training comes with an optional TV cameraman; we give you a copy of your radio interview for you to listen to in the car.

For Spokesperson Training: if you want to know what makes a good story — and how you can package your messages about your company and products in a way that hit the front page! Includes an optional journalist for role plays so you can practice your new-found skills.

For Advanced Spokesperson Training: if you want your team to be the industry spokespeople (not suitable for inexperienced spokespeople.)

Web 2.0 and Social Media: We cover the latest media, including blogging and podcasting, using the latest facilitation tools and outcomes-based teaching techniques.

2-hour, one-on-one session Designed for the top spokesperson who needs something specific: how to handle a specific medium or a specific event; or who wants a quick overview of the media in a specific industry.

4-hours, 3-12 people A crash course in half a day for a team of spokespeople; for radio or print. (TV needs a full day to do it justice). For companies who want quick results.

Interactive sessions

Courses are interactive and practical — we build the courses around your own company’s desire to be in — or to avoid — the media. Participants learn to cut through the clutter and craft messages that are compelling, relevant and entertaining. They learn to be the opposite of boring.

Boost your profile… Are you…?

  • A PR company whose clients sometimes miss — or fluff — opportunities to appear in the media?
  • An internal marketing head who wishes you could get more coverage in the media?
  • Somebody who’s going to be on a talk show soon, and who wants an edge over the other guests?
  • Somebody who wants to pre-empt a difficult interviewer’s most awkward questions?
  • A Sales manager wanting to align your sales team’s marketing messages?
  • A brand manager with a portfolio of brands whose managers need to be trained? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

What will you say when the media call? And they will call!
